Arsene Wenger reportedly made a last-ditch attempt to pinch Tottenham Hotspur’s latest signing Clinton N’Jie from under their noses, but we eventually failed in our attempts, the Express reports.
Spurs announced on Saturday that N’Jie had signed and that the transfer was subject to the 22-year-old being granted a work permit.

N’Jie has already been to the Emirates Stadium, as he was in the Lyon side which we dismantled 6-0 in the Emirates Cup last month.
According to their Lyon’s president, Wenger attempted to make N’Jie’s visit a more permanent situation.

“Clinton Njie’s departure is not complete. We have received an offer from another big English club which is complicating things,” Jean-Michel Aulas was quoted as saying.
According to the Express, who cite French magazine L’Equipe, that mystery club was us. But despite the position he plays in, it would be surprising if these latest reports are true.
We’re clearly only after the best possible players, and signing N’Jie would go against that policy considering that he wouldn’t improve our current starting XI.
However, just for the laughs, snatching a player from Spurs at the last possible moment would’ve been quite amusing.
