Arsene Wenger admits PSG superstar striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has enjoyed a ‘great season’ for the Ligue 1 winners but the Arsenal manager is not ‘on that case’ at present with rumours floating around the Frenchman is considering luring the high profile free-agent to north London this summer.
It’s no secret Arsenal are struggling in the attacking department and require a top class striker to lead the line, naturally the Gunners have been linked with the prolific forward who continues to star at the highest level despite being 34-years-old.
PSG have been crowned champions of Ligue 1 with eight games to go and Zlatan was instrumental, netting 27 goals and claiming 11 assists in 24 appearances this term, not to mention the giant Swede has scored four with three assists so far in their Champions League campaign (via Whoscored).
“At the moment, no, we are not on that case. We have other worries at the moment. It’s short-term. Even at 34, he’s had a great season at PSG,” Wenger told reporters in his pre-match press conference (via Arsenal.com). “You can understand my priority ahead of Everton is not the transfer market or signings next season.”
“I’m just surprised by the name you’ve thrown at me. We’re not thinking of signing anybody at the moment.”

Ibrahimovic famously turned down an offer to join the Gunners in 2000, claiming he ‘doesn’t do auditions’ and the rest was history as the Swedish striker went on to become a world class centre forward at a variety of clubs including Ajax, Juventus, Inter, Barcelona, AC Milan and PSG – claiming league titles at every top level club he’s played for.
One title still evades him – the Premier League crown. Arsenal have the resources to take a risk on the veteran centre forward, and with morale at an all time low at the club, his bags of confidence could provide just the trick to spark the Gunners into action next season.
Zlatan remains a big fan of Arsene Wenger and still holds the gifted No.9 Arsenal shirt with his name printed on the back as one of his most favourite momentos. Wenger’s still keeping the number for you Zlatan. Come and claim it.
