Alexis Sanchez has really hit the ground running since his big money move to the Emirates this past summer, and Arsene Wenger believes his fantastic form is largely down to how quickly he settled in at Arsenal.

The Chilean has been superb since joining us from Barcelona, and has been an integral part of our season so far. He began scoring almost immediately after arriving, and hasn’t stopped since.
With 18 goals to his name already, the 26-year-old is well on his way to being our top scorer this season; a most impressive feat considering he is largely restricted to wide positions.
Wenger claims the £35m man’s excellent start to his Arsenal career is down to the fact that he settled in so fast following his transfer, and believes he knows exactly why that is.
“Alexis has played in Italy, in Spain and he moved clubs – that of course helps,” Wenger said on Arsenal‘s official website.

“The second part is that the move is a reward for what he really wanted.
“Alexis had a few options and he chose us because he felt that’s where he wanted to go. Sometimes a player moves somewhere and it’s not the choice that he deeply wanted. In his case, I think he really wanted to join us.
“On the pitch, the player has his needs. I felt that he came into a team that plays in an [attacking] way, where he can express his talent with freedom. It works out well for him. That helps.
“After, another step is that a team welcomes you with the values that you rate, and that in some parts of the team, you can feel at home when you need it sometimes.
“That means there are people inside the squad with a similar culture. For example we have plenty of Spanish-speaking people and I believe that helps to integrate people well.”
The way he is playing certainly suggests he is happy at Arsenal, and his wonderful work-ethic and tireless nature means he gives us everything he’s got; leaving it all on the pitch.
We were always aware that there were other suitors looking to lure Sanchez away from Barcelona, but in the end it seems like we were the only club he wanted to join.
