Despite his critics, few can doubt that Olivier Giroud has improved since he arrived in 2012 and is our undisputed no.1 striker.
Since he returned from his broken ankle in late November, the Frenchman has been in fantastic form and answered all the doubters and their reservations regarding his game.
Scoring goals in the big games was one thing labelled at Giroud, and he has scored against Manchester United, Liverpool and Manchester City this season.

Profligacy was also an issue, but that has also been improved upon as the stats show. According to Arsenal.com, Giroud has gone from a goal every 2.75 games to a goal ever 1.8 games.
“I want those numbers to go down even more – he can do one in one,” Wenger said.

“When you look at the numbers of the top strikers now, they approach 1.1, 1.2 and I think Olivier has the quality to get there.”
Giroud obviously lacks pace and individual brilliance, but with the supporting cast around him such as Alexis Sanchez, Theo Walcott and Mesut Ozil, he can definitely reach those goals.
A new contract was looking imminent at the beginning of the season but those talks of have gone cold in recent months.
With a year left on his deal come the summer, the club must come to a decision quite quickly.
