Arsene Wenger has reportedly reached out to Karim Benzema’s entourage in order to confirm that he’s interested in signing the Real Madrid forward, according to RMC reporter Mohamed Bouhafsi.

Benzema has been heavily linked with us in recent weeks and according to Bouhafsi, the 27-year-old is Wenger’s “dream” signing in this window.
Following the arrival of Petr Cech, Wenger has stressed that he’s only interested in world-class players who will significantly improve our squad.
“We are in a position where we just want a player with an exceptional quality in any area that can strengthen us,” Wenger was quoted as saying in the Express.

Benzema would certainly fit that calibre and the boss has shown that he’s ruthless enough to add another option regardless of the players currently occupying that role.
Cech is now ahead of Emi Martinez, David Ospina and Wojciech Szczesny with Benzema’s arrival likely to spell danger for Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck.
Adding a player of the Frenchman’s quality would most likely position us among the favourites for the Premier League title alongside the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City.
