Arsene Wenger has reportedly lined up a contingency plan should our move to lure Karim Benzema fail to materialise this summer as the boss seeks to solve our striker dilemma, El Confidencial’s Kike Marin reports.

Benzema is widely reported as Wenger’s number one target and the boss has even sounded out the Frenchman’s entourage to inform them about our interest in doing a deal (via the Metro).
However, if Madrid refuse to sell, it’s encouraging that Wenger is planning for the worst with Kike suggesting that there is another target being worked on.
With the number of players capable of strengthening our squad difficult to find, it is no surprise to see that the identity of this player is currently unknown.
