The transfer saga of Petr Cech to Arsenal is still going, and we are closer than ever to getting our man, according to the Mirror.

The report claims Arsene Wenger is confident of completing the signing, with Cech determined to remain in London following his Stamford Bridge exit.
We are facing competition from Manchester United (via The Telegraph), although with the Czech international keen not to uproot his family, we are reportedly leading the race.
David Ospina and Wojciech Szczesny have shown moments of real quality, but both players have their shortcomings. Cech would almost certainly take us to the next level, and – in the short term at least – is arguably an upgrade on both players.
The fee being quoted is somewhere in the region of £10m (via the Express), which is a price we can easily afford.

If Wenger is confident the deal will go through, then that suggests it really is close. The manager is rarely outspoken about transfer targets, so let’s hope his confidence is rewarded with an arrival.
