Atletico Madrid have long been admirers of Santi Cazorla, and have been seeking to lure him back to Spain for years (via the Daily Mail). They look set to try and do so again, but the report claims only a massive offer will tempt Arsene Wenger into selling.

The Spaniard has been one of our most reliable performers since his move to the Emirates, and found his best form once again this past season. He thrived in a new deeper role alongside Francis Coquelin, and despite competition from Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey, he will expect to play a major role next season as well.
The Mail’s report suggests Diego Simeone sees Cazorla as the ideal replacement for the potentially outgoing Arda Turan. It’s hard to imagine us letting the 30-year-old go though, especially as he was so instrumental in our successful spell in 2015.
It’s possible that Wenger will look to lessen Cazorla’s role in the side next season, with Wilshere and Ramsey given more time on the pitch. He is unlikely to be forced into selling the diminutive midfielder though, so unless Atletico open their chequebooks in a big way they are unlikely to get their hands on him.
