With the January transfer window just about ready to slam shut, it’s difficult to see any more arrivals at the Emirates. Arsene Wenger has refused to rule out a deadline day signing however, with the Frenchman willing to sign an exceptional player, according to the Telegraph.
With Krystian Bielik and Gabriel Paulista joining the club this January, Wenger has arguably addressed our two biggest problem areas.
Many fans were still hoping for more, with a more experienced defensive midfielder of particular interest. The boss believes we are set for the season now however, and will only make a move if an exceptional player becomes available.
“If I wake up in the morning and somebody stands in front of my door who is an exceptional player, I will open the door,” he said.
“But it looks very unlikely now.

“Numbers-wise, we look alright now, and quality as well.”
With Wenger letting three of our forward players leave the club on loan this winter, it seemed likely that he would look to bring at least one replacement in. That seems unlikely at this point however, with no news of any new signings emerging.
We shouldn’t be holding our breath, but the manager has been known to produce a few surprises in the past.
