Pep Guardiola and Manchester City have reportedly given Mikel Arteta their blessings to become the next manager of Arsenal (via Sport).
In these last few days, Mikel Arteta has emerged as the leading candidate to replace Arsene Wenger as Arsenal manager.
The former Gunners captain and current assistant to Pep Guardiola at Manchester City is reportedly the frontrunner for the job according to various publications.
It’s unclear if talks have officially gotten underway with contrasting information from different sources but there have been some new reports today.
Spanish publication Sport have claimed that Mikel Arteta has met with Pep Guardiola and the Manchester City board to discuss the position.
The report claims that Guardiola and the club have given their blessings to Arteta should he look to leave the Premier League champions in favour of the Arsenal hot seat.

It’s good to hear that the Manchester City board won’t stand in Mikel Arteta’s way if indeed he is offered the Arsenal job. It’s almost unheard of a club preventing their assistant manager from taking a management position at another club but it’s not impossible.
