Atletico Madrid have made signing Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal their top priority this summer, according to Spanish newspaper AS.
The report claims that Diego Simeone’s side view the Chile international as the perfect replacement for Antoine Griezmann who has been tipped to leave the club in the summer.
Griezmann has developed into one of the top strikers in the continent at Atletico but has been linked with a big-money move to Manchester United in recent months.
Atletico reportedly were interested in signing Sanchez before he left Barcelona for Arsenal and will renew their interest should be fail to agree a contract extension before the end of the season.
The Liga side are still operating under a transfer ban but should that be lifted by Fifa they will move for Sanchez as a priority.
Sanchez has also been linked with a move to PSG this week as speculation over his future continues, with a contract extension still be agreed with Arsenal.

The Ligue 1 side are believed to be contemplating a summer move and are willing to spend big on a marquee signing to finally replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Reports concerning Sanchez’s future are becoming an almost daily occurrence despite Arsene Wenger insisting he is confident the attacker wants to stay and an agreement can be reached.
The 28-year-old has also recently insisted he is happy at London but recent visible on-field frustrations have undoubtedly helped ramp up speculation.
It is no surprise to see the top clubs linked with a move for Sanchez, such is his quality, but unless a new deal is agreed the speculation will surely only continue.
Despite his recent outbursts Sanchez does not appear to be affected by the headlines, the Chilean remains the club’s top scorer with 15 goals already this season.
