Serge Aurier is one of the most talked about Arsenal targets this summer due to the confirmed departure of experienced defender Bacary Sagna. According to the players agent, he’s not heard from the Gunners recently, so there is no deal in place, despite early discussions with the north London club.
It seemed the Gunners had essentially sealed the signing of the player with Aurier himself confirming to a fan that he is set to join the FA Cup winning side. But nothing official has yet been agreed, while reports have started to surface that a couple of English clubs have also entered into negotiations.
The Toulouse right-back is currently with the Ivory Coast national team ahead of this summers World Cup, and has reportedly been earmarked by Wenger as Sagna’s replacement to compete with Carl Jenkinson next season. Preliminary talks were opened last month, but it has gone quiet according to Aurier’s agent Stephane Courbis, and another English side have registered their interest.
Courbis told RMC:
There is no agreement with Arsenal or anyone else.
There have been discussions with Arsenal in the past, but it’s been a while since there has been any talks.

To tell you the truth, we are even talking to another English club, so there is really nothing to act upon.
Whether or not the agent can be believed about another club entering talks is another matter, he could be looking to increases his clients value, but one worrying point that is most likely true is the lack of discussion from Arsenal’s end.
We cannot afford to dilly-dally if we want to bring in the number of players we require this summer, especially with Fabianski and Sagna heading out the exit door for free.
If we did indeed open preliminary talks with Toulouse, then we need to wrap up a deal before another club enters the bidding and ups the price for one of Ligue 1’s hottest young defenders. That said, Arsenal appear to hold the key with Aurier a self confessed Gooner.
