Arsenal have been given a boost ahead of Sunday’s clash with Manchester United having suffered further injury problems during their 1-1 draw with Swansea on Sunday.
The Red Devils saw defenders Eric Bailly and Luke Shaw forced off in the game to leave them with huge problems at the back as they are already without Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Marcos Rojo.
United were forced to play with an unfamiliar back line consisting of Ashley Young, Matteo Darmian, Daley Blind and Antonio Valencia and let slip a 1-0 lead as they were held yet again.
The club are also currently without Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Juan Mata, Paul Poba and Timothy Fosu-Mensah and have a Europa League semi-final first leg against Celta to negotiate on Thursday night before Sunday’s game.
Should Bailly and Shaw fail to recover for the game with Arsenal, Mourinho has few optionsĀ in defence. He could turn to youth, with the highly-rated Axel Tuanzebe available, but he has been reluctant to use the teenager this season.
The news will be welcomed by Arsenal who are currently five points behind United, having played a game less, and can close that gap with victory at the Emirates on Sunday.
