It has been reported by People that Arsenal’s talismanic captain, Cesc Fabregas, is willing to give up a clause in his contract that entitles him upto 15% of the successful bid for any move away from the Emirates.
With Barcelona offering approximately around the £30m mark, the clause in Fabregas’ contract allows him to claim close to £5m if Arsenal agree to a bid. Although the gunners have already rejected a bid of £27m, Barcelona are expected to return with improved offers for the talented midfielder. With Fabregas also forfeiting his share to the Arsenal coffers, the Spanish giants hope Arsenal will be more inclined to accept lower bids and Fabregas hopes he will go out on good terms after 8 years with the club.
Although he has been given a valuation of £44m from the Gunners, Fabregas has seen a injury-ridden season pass by due to his recurring hamstring injuries and there are worries among the Arsenal camp that this could see his value drop considerably if they were to continue. Due to these concerns it seems Arsenal are seriously considering offers with a Spanish source saying “The fact Arsenal are studying offers is a good sign.” It has been reported by People that Barcelona are willing to offer Cesc a five year contract, with an option to extend it further.
What do you think? Should we sell our long serving creative midfielder before his hamstrings get the better of him? Or should we keep him just one more season and ride our luck?
