We’ve been heavily linked with a move for Barcelona youngster Sergi Samper in the past, and the Catalan club are now willing to sell the midfielder, according to Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo (via the Express).
Barca have set a £4.4m price tag on the 20-year-old (via the Express), which doesn’t seem like much for a player with his talent. We have a habit of poaching young talent from the La Liga side, and for the most part our acquisitions have been a success.
As the report suggests, we’re also being tipped to sign FC Basel’s Mohamed Elneny. It seems unlikely that we’ll sign both, despite the fact that both seem to be available fairly cheaply.
Coming from a Barcelona background in La Masia, Samper would certainly suit the Arsenal style. Current Gunner Hector Bellerin would also love to see his former teammate arrive at the Emirates, as the pair are reportedly extremely good friends.
Both of our transfer targets are pretty young, so wouldn’t come with a huge amount of experience. Though that probably works in their favour, as Arsene Wenger is no doubt looking for a deputy for Francis Coquelin rather than a replacement.

Samper would be a quality signing, but with such strong links to Elneny it’s hard to see the Barca star arriving – unless for some reason the Egyptian’s move falls through.
