In a rather controversial interview with Spanish publication Marca, Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has revealed that Cesc Fabgregas used to leak Arsenal teamsheets ahead of clashes with Manchester United.
Pique and Fabregas have been friends for years, and have been close ever since playing together in Barcelona’s La Masia academy. Pique was key in the tapping up done by a number of stars at the Catalan club, and was a contributing factor in Fabregas’ move back to Barcelona.
They remained close while the pair were in England at Manchester United and Arsenal respectively, and even leaked information to each other.
“Cesc was a pioneer to go to London at 16 years of age and then others went and he was an example to many, for me he was an example,” Pique told Marca.
“When Manchester United played Arsenal…. we called to tell each other the teams.”
Arsenal fans were devastated when our former captain made the switch back to La Liga, but it didn’t exactly come as a shock, and the Spaniard still held a place in many of our hearts. He lost the fans he still had at Arsenal when he made the controversial switch to Premier League rivals Chelsea, after he finally gave up on trying to win Barcelona fans over.

This news that he used to leak the teams way back when is certainly not going to help endear Arsenal fans to him, and we generally now treat him with indifference.
Arsenal transfer news
We have moved on well beyond the former Arsenal midfielder, and his average displays for Chelsea recently have shown Arsene Wenger was right not to bring him back to the Emirates. His impressive initial return to the Premier League made many question that, but it seems that was just a purple patch for the ex-Barca star.
