Barcelona star Neymar paid homage to Arsenal legend Theirry Henry as the two posed for a photo in the dressing rooms at the Stade de France after Brazil’s 3-1 victory over France.
Henry attended the game as a guest and was honoured by the French Football Federation (via Thierry Henry’s Twitter) following his retirement from football in December.
Neymar scored a wonderful goal to down the Euro 2016 hosts and the defeat is damaging for a French side with no competitive fixtures leading up to the tournament in June.
The Brazilian poster boy now occupies the position in the Barcelona team previously held by Henry and was made up by the praise he received from our record goalscorer.
“He praised me, said to 43 goals for the national team with 23 years is something very difficult to achieve,” Neymar revealed (via Gazeta Esportiva).
“It was very nice to talk to him, he is a player I admired as a child.”
Neymar also made sure his social media following knew of his admiration for Henry by posting an image of himself alongside the Frenchman and added the caption: ‘This is one of the best in football history !!! THIERRY HENRY’.
