Barcelona youngster Marc Bartra has moved to quash rumours that he could be set for a Nou Camp exit this summer, rubbishing reports of a potential move to Arsenal or Liverpool, as reported by the Daily Star.
Bartra is one of the most highly rated young centre-backs in football at the moment, and is understandably being targeted by some top European clubs. He insists that he’s happy at Barcelona however, claiming that there is no truth in the reports linking him with a move away.
“Every year, the same thing [my future] is discussed [in the media], but my only thought was and remains staying at Barca,” Bartra said, as quoted by the Daily Star.
“I have everything here and feeling important in a team like this one is special.
“My personal objective is to win, not only for myself but also for the team. I approach the season, hoping to keep improving.”
It’s understandable to think that the player might be looking for a move away from the club, as he has struggled for first team football under Luis Enrique. His comments suggest there is no chance of a move any time soon though, so we will have to look elsewhere – if we are in fact looking for a defender.

He’s a top quality centre-back and looks to have a bright future ahead of him, but we are finally well stocked in central defenders. With Laurent Koscielny, Per Mertesacker, Gabriel Paulista, and Calum Chambers on our books – as well as versatile full-backs Mathieu Debuchy and Nacho Monreal – a centre-back signing is the least of our worries.
