Hector Bellerin has added to Arsenal’s woes by missing Spain Under-21 training due to a “light injury” with the full-back now rated as a doubt for Friday’s clash with Austria, according to AS.
The 21-year-old was somewhat surprisingly left out of the senior Spain squad but is due to play for the Under-21s in the first leg of their crucial Uefa European Under-21 Championship play-off.
However, the report claims that Bellerin could miss the game after sitting out a training session on Tuesday. The second leg is scheduled for Tuesday 15 November – when the senior squad take on England in a friendly.
The news is a further blow to Arsenal who were rocked by news from Chile that Alexis Sanchez has suffered a “low grade muscle injury” while on international duty.
Sanchez has been ruled out of Chile’s clash with Colombia and will be monitored further but has not yet been ruled out of Chile’s clash with Uruguay next Tuesday.
Bellerin had given Arsenal a boost earlier this week with his agent confirming he is close to signing a new deal with the Gunners, putting an end to speculation surrounding his future following reported interest from Manchester City and Barcelona.

However, the injuries to both Bellerin and Sanchez will provoke anxiety amongst the Arsenal ranks even though they do not appear, at this stage, to be too serious.
Both players are absolutely vital to the Gunners’ hopes of success this year and following the international break Arsenal travel to Old Trafford in the Premier League before welcoming PSG to the Emirates.
