Hector Bellerin has revealed the change which Arsene Wenger implemented to turn the match around and secure victory against FC Koln (via The Metro).
Arsenal’s first match in the Europa League was always going to be a memorable one but last night’s events only amplified that.
London was overrun by thousands of FC Koln fans some of whom, reportedly, found their way into the home end last night and got kick-off delayed for an hour.
The disruption may have affected Arsenal as they found themselves a goal down at the break but things changed in the second-half.
Sead Kolasinac, Alexis Sanchez and Hector Bellerin grabbed the goals and now, the Spaniard has revealed what changed after the break and how it helped the Gunner get all three points.
“It’s a difficult competition, we think we’re one of the best in the comp so we have to show it on the pitch,” Bellerin told BT Sport.

“The boss had to change the tactics and it worked in the end. Sead came on, it gave us a boost.”
It’s true that Arsene Wenger elected to change Arsenal’s tactics at half-time. The Gunners played the second 45 in a 4-2-3-1 formation compared to the usual 3-4-2-1. The extra player certainly helped as the Arsenal full-backs began to get more and more of the ball. It was a good second-half performance and hopefully, the team can carry this over to Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
