Yossi Benayoun believes Arsenal’s battling performance to gain their first Champions League point against former German champions Borussia Dortmund, will strengthen the bond between the players and improve confidence within the team.
The Gunners spent majority of the match on the back foot, and had it not been for a fine defensive performance the Gunners would have walked away with nothing.
‘Dortmund are the German champions, they are a very good team, and we can take a lot of confidence from this game into Saturday’s game against Blackburn,’ the Israel captain said.
‘You expect them to try everything and they pressed and pressed. In the end, they scored a lovely goal but we need to be happy with this point.’
‘We all know it wasn’t the best start to the season. We beat Swansea the other day and to take a point in the Champions League will build the confidence. There is a lot of quality in this team and I’m sure we will show it from game to game.
‘The mood is much better now. There is a great manager and great players with a lot of quality.’

Benayoun is pleased to be part of the Arsenal cause this season, and hopes that we can see the best of him in our quest for silverware.
‘The manager decided to bring a few players in, I am one of them, and I am sure we will add something to the team and together we will take the team forward,’
‘It’s lovely to play for a big club like Arsenal and it’s a big challenge for me. I was happy that I have the chance to play and hopefully, with every chance I get, I will justify myself.
‘I am enjoying it. The guys gave me a good feeling from the beginning and it is a big challenge. Like I said, any chance that I get I will prove that I deserve to be here. Hopefully we will have a great season.’
Arsenal face a tough physical test against Blackburn this weekend, a team who are currently rooted to the bottom of the table with just a single point from last weeks draw against Fulham. Whether Benyaoun will start the game or not is likely down to the availability of Ramsey as he will be fresh, however the Israeli put in a decent performance against Dortmund, so for once Wenger will have a variety of options to choose from.
