Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner has apparently turned down a move to Trabzonspor in favour of staying with Arsenal. SportPulse has reported that Bendtner believes that Arsenal will not sign another striker this window, and he will therefore remain the primary understudy to Olivier Giroud now that Walcott is out for the rest of the season.
Despite fans widely criticising Bendtner and making it clear that he has been surplus to requirements on several occasions, it is nice to see some level of loyalty from the Dane. He hasn’t done too badly in his cameo appearances this season for Arsenal. While only netting twice in his 8 matches, they have been important goals for the Gunners, and his playing time has been restricted largely to late substitute appearances.
If Giroud were to suffer an injury this season, then a lot would be required of big Nick. So despite our previous misgivings over the Dane, I think it’s important to get behind him, and show him we appreciate his loyalty.
