The Brazil international attacking midfielder is one of the hottest young talents in South America and has been tracked for sometime by some of Europe’s elite sides.
The 20-year-old is reportedly being tracked by European heavyweights Porto, Benfica, Shakhtar Donetsk and Borussia Dortmund as well as Arsenal, with Wenger requiring to bolster his attacking options this summer.
According to the starlets father Duarte, the Gunners are interested in signing his son despite Wenger insisting recently there is no truth in the rumours, however they have not officially launched a bid yet.
Duarte reportedly told the Brazilian media:
Nothing is decided yet, but we know there is an interest from Arsenal.
There has been nothing official from them.
The tricky playmaker will be sold if a club can come up with the required £22m bid, as we recently reported, however it seems that the Gunners are not close to securing the Brazilian with no official approach made just yet.

Wenger recently said that he wants to add top quality players that are not necessarily well known, a category that Bernard could be placed under. The Frenchman is not afraid to spend a decent chunk of money on young up and coming players, he’s spent a decent bringing in the likes of Ramsey, Walcott and the Ox over the years so maybe this deal could actually happen.
But so far many Gooners have been disappointed with the lack of activity in the market, there is still another month to go though. Fingers crossed something exciting happens soon.
