Paul Scholes has tipped Wayne Rooney to score a hat-trick against Arsenal this weekend, despite the Manchester United captain struggling for form this season.
The 29-year-old has found goals difficult to come by so far, and was poor once again during his side’s Champions League win over VfL Wolfsburg. Scholes admitted that his former teammate wasn’t at his best, yet still bizarrely tipped him to score two or three against us this weekend.

Scholes is notoriously biased, and has been extremely critical of Arsenal in the past. He seems to be putting Rooney up on a pedestal at the moment, despite the England striker’s shocking form.
“He didn’t have his best night, did he, but we all saw that,” Scholes said.
“But we know what Wayne’s capable of. If he plays a full season he’s going to score 20-25 goals.

“Like I say, it probably wasn’t his best night but he could go and score two or three on Sunday [vs Arsenal] and let’s hope he does.”
We’d rather he didn’t actually Scholes, so let’s hope he draws yet another blank when Louis van Gaal’s side heads to the Emirates.
How Scholes is still a pundit is a mystery, as he is unquestionably one of the dullest around. His voice isn’t meant for the media, not to mention his opinions are often laughable.
It just goes to show that you don’t need to be talented or knowledgeable to be a pundit, and all you really need is to be a former footballer.
Arsenal transfer news
We haven’t been at our best recently, but hopefully our abysmal performance against Olympiacos will be the kick up the backside we need. United have been equally disappointing this season, but somehow find themselves top of the table. A big win for us this weekend could see that change however, and if other results go our way we could be top of the table come Monday.
