Kosovan journalist and friend of Granit Xhaka, Artan Muhaxhiri, has confirmed that the Swiss international is en-route to London to finalise a deal with Arsenal, suggesting that our first transfer business of the summer is almost complete.
Muhaxhiri took to Facebook to reveal the news, displaying a picture of himself with Xhaka and announcing that an agreement was close to being reached. This bit of confirmation is among the most concrete of the reports we’ve had so far, and it really looks as though Xhaka will be an Arsenal player very soon.
This comes after several other reports suggested a move was close, with Goal revealing that Borussia Monchengladbach had received an official bid from Arsenal – though an agreement was yet to be reached.
Xhaka has been fantastic for Gladbach this season, but has seemingly outgrown them as a player. He looks to be ready to make a big money move to a larger club, and despite Gladbach potentially set for Champions League football once again next season, a move to Arsenal would unquestionably be a step up.

We badly need signings this summer, not only as we’re in danger of falling further behind some of our domestic and European competition, but also because we’re likely to see a few Emirates exits too. Xhaka would be a quality addition and hopefully the first of many, with Arsene Wenger needing to revamp the squad a little to rejuvenate and make sure we’re challenging for the title once again next season.
Arsenal transfer news
Until we hear official confirmation on Arsenal.com then obviously we can’t take anything for granted, but it does seem like it’s only a matter of time before Xhaka to Arsenal is announced.
