Alvaro Morata has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal recently (via the Express), and there may now have inadvertently been a massive hint that he’s set for a Juventus exit this summer. A restaurant in Turin – known to be popular among Juventus stars – posted a rather telling image on Instagram, saying “goodbye” to Morata in Spanish and strongly hinting at an exit for the 23-year-old.

As the Express’ report suggests, Real Madrid had a buyback clause inserted into Morata’s contract when they sold him to Juventus a couple of seasons ago. They are now apparently planning on activating it purely to sell him on for a profit, with Juve pretty powerless to stop them.
While it’s certainly possible that Arsene Wenger could be looking at Morata as a potential summer signing, the reports flying around certainly don’t do much to help the validity of the claim. It was suggested that we were set to make the Spanish international our record signing with a £51m bid (via talkSPORT), which is almost certainly pure rubbish.

Morata is a promising young striker, but is barely worth half that amount in all honesty. He managed just a handful of goals for a dominant Juventus side this season, being totally outshone by Paulo Dybala. Spending over £50m on an out of form striker struggling for goals is madness, and with Wenger’s track record in the transfer market you have to be sceptical about this one.
Arsenal transfer news
Morata wouldn’t necessarily be a bad signing at all, and if he’s the best striker available then we could definitely look at the possibility of signing him. That’s not to say we should just waste a small fortune signing a striker for the sake of it though, and if Real really are demanding even close to that amount then Wenger should instantly pass on this one.
