As the Express reports, the Gabon international has been linked with a move away from Dortmund this summer. The club failed to secure Champions League football after a truly woeful start to the season, with relegation looking like a real possibility right up until January.
We are apparently plotting a £28.7m (via the Express) move for the 26-year-old, but Dortmund are determined to keep him at the Westfalenstadion beyond this summer.
“Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is a player of Borussia Dortmund and we do not have any plan to sell him. That’s a fact,” Dortmund general manager Michael Zorc said, as quoted by the Express.
Aubameyang would be a solid signing, and his goalscoring achievements last season were extremely impressive – especially considering how poorly Dortmund performed in the early stags of the campaign. I can’t see him offering too much that the likes of Theo Walcott doesn’t provide already though, and with a number of other areas in need of strengthening this summer, our money could certainly be spent better elsewhere.
