Arsene Wenger has come in for some serious criticism following his deadline day inactivity, and the lack of signings this summer has been met with real anger from the fans. Former Arsenal star Denilson has leapt to Wenger’s defence however, citing the Frenchman’s ability to breed world class players rather than buying them, as reported exclusively by Sambafoot.
The Brazilian certainly wasn’t one of Wenger’s most successful acquisitions, despite a promising start to his Arsenal career. He was witness to the rise of some truly top talent at the club though, and has given his backing to the manager.
“For me, he is a great coach. He knows how to discover and give worldwide exposure to the players. When I first arrived no one knew me and gradually I appeared in the team,” he said.
“This is Wenger who turn players like [Cesc] Fabregas, into the world class player of today. Wenger is a professional of high level.”
Our inactivity in the transfer window just gone means we are likely to see more from some of our academy products, and Jeff Reine-Adelaide, Yassin Fortune, and Alex Iwobi have all impressed recently.
Arsenal fans are understandably angry that we’ll be relying on youth to add fresh blood to the ranks this season, as we were looking close to completing our already excellent squad after adding Petr Cech to the side. It will be good to see a little more of Reine-Adelaide in particular though, especially after his showing in the Emirates Cup in pre-season.
