The difference between this season and the last is the size of the squad. Even with players like Theo Walcott, Kieran Gibbs and Olivier Giroud out injured, Arsenal can still call on Alexis Sanchez, Joel Campbell and Lukas Podolski.
Wenger made the decision in the game against Leicester City to play Yaya Sanogo. I have no doubt Sanogo will come good at one point in time. He has good hold up play and is good in the air, attributes necessary to be the focal point of attack. However for a team challenging for the Premier League, we need better than Sanogo.
I agree with Wenger that we might not necessarily need to buy a striker because we have players who can step up but what is the point of leaving Joel Campbell on the bench when he has already proven himself with his National team, Costa Rica? Why not give him a chance to prove himself at Arsenal?
Podolski is another curious case as he is very experienced. Again I agree with Wenger that he is not a striker per se with his static movement but he has a fierce accurate shot. Give him one chance and he will take it with aplomb. If Sanogo’s one on one chance had fallen to Podolski, Kasper Schmeichel would not have saved it.
Arsene Wenger said after the Leicester City game that the players looked jaded and admitted Leicester City attacked very well. That begs the question… why not use his options on the bench from the start? Rosicky, Podolski, and Campbell are all more than capable of making the difference. Why wait so long to make changes when it was obvious we needed them earlier?

We need to figure out the best team that will create fluidity in our play because at the moment we look disjointed and no striker will change that. It needs to happen and fast as Chelsea does not look like they are going drop many points this season.
I have no doubt Wenger will make the right decisions and I am hopeful that very soon we will see an Arsenal team that is firing on all cylinders.
