Arsenal’s new star midfielder Santi Cazorla admits he is really happy at being voted as the Arsenal’s fans player of the season in his debut season for the club.
Amidst some ups and downs in the 2012/13 season, Cazorla was easily one of Arsenal’s most influential and consistent players appearing in every Premier League match.
The little Spaniard racked up an impressive 12 goals and 14 assists in the Premier League, including his magnificent hat-trick at Reading and all four assists against Wigan late in the campaign.
Cazorla is quoted as saying by Arsenal.com:
I’m really happy about it, especially as it was my first season in England and it was very positive.
The best thing about it is the fact the fans have voted for me, it makes me feel proud of my performances this season.

From day one I have noticed a lot of kindness from them, from the people, the Club, from everyone at Arsenal. It was something that really surprised me when I first arrived.
Next season I will try to perform as well as I have done this year, but also improve. I will be even more at ease, knowing my team-mates and enjoying the manager’s confidence, and I will be more use to the team.
During the last few games the team played very well. That is what we have to aim for next season, we need to be more consistent. It shows [how important it is] because this year we managed to get to fourth place.
There is no doubt the little midfield maestro deserved this accolade and he definitely won it in a landslide, claiming 55.7% of the total vote.
In the league overall, Cazorla ranked third in chances created with 96 in the season and was certainly the creative spark behind much of Arsenal’s attack ranking first overall in terms of passes in the final third.
His natural ability with both feet and trickery certainly allows him to wriggle his way out of many situations as well as distributing the ball with ease.
Here’s hoping he has another successful season with Arsenal next season!
