Arsenal’s midfield maestro Santi Cazorla has expressed his approval of new signing Nacho Monreal saying he is proving to be a great signing for the club.
The left-back was brought in just as Arsenal were starting to experience depth issues with Andre Santos leaving on a loan spell and Kieran Gibbs succumbing to injury late in the January transfer window.
Despite his transfer coinciding with Santos’ departure and Gibbs’ injury woes, Monreal was no panic buy with reports suggesting Arsenal already had a deal in principle for the Spaniard to join in the summer.
Cazorla is quoted as saying on Arsenal.com:
He’s a very good signing, and he’s proving it.
Nacho is a footballer I really enjoy watching and playing with. I spent last season with him at Malaga and he was a vital player for the team. He’s adapted to the Premier League very well. What’s more, our style of play suits him because he’s someone with a lot of movement.
I think Arsenal have really got it right with the transfer. I’m very happy because he’s a great mate.

We know each other from Malaga and I know it can be difficult when you first arrive. I had the exact same experience and, thanks to Mikel, I adapted much better. So I know, for Nacho, it makes it easier to adjust if he has me and Mikel.
We’ve tried to help him settle as easily as possible and, little by little, he’s understanding more. He’s got a feeling for the Club. I talk to him every day and he’s very happy to be at Arsenal.
Many Gooners expressed their desire to see the left-back position strengthened owing to Gibbs’ injury woes and Santos’ woeful defending.
The Spaniard is proving to be a very solid acquisition and has shown he has the goods, particularly when you look at his recent excellent performance against France in the Spanish national team.
Personally, I feel his transfer in January was a necessity and also feel he will be crucial for Arsenal in what is the business end of the Premier League campaign. He has already somewhat proved that with his goal against Swansea.
