Celebrity Arsenal fan Piers Morgan has once again taken aim at Arsene Wenger, and is baffled by the barometer to which our manager is judged – mainly the fact that he indirectly built the Emirates Stadium, The Sunday Times reports.
The Mail Online editor is a season-ticket holder as well as owning a few shares in Arsenal, and is adamant that we must make a managerial change if we’re to ever win the Premier League.
According to Morgan, constant mentions of ‘progression’ is something which confuses him, as we’re still battling to qualify for the Champions League.
Arsenal transfer news
It is time Wenger is judged as a football manager and his achievements on the field, the controversial editor states.
“Arsenal have been third or fourth in the Premier League now for 10 consecutive years,” he bemoaned.

“We have been knocked out of the Champions League in the round of 16 for the past five years yet I keep being told we are improving.
“Is he an architect? Are we saying because he built a stadium it gives him a free 10-year pass? I wanted him to win trophies. He is not an architect.”
Piers has been consistent in his claims regarding Wenger, but his expectations regarding what he wants from our manager seems to shift.
Having previously criticised our lack of trophies, he now refuses to acknowledge the FA Cup and rates it as a “second-tier trophy” (via Metro).
The sad reality remains that Wenger may never get the chance to prove Morgan – and his other critics – wrong, considering how far we currently are from league leaders Chelsea.
The steps needed to be taken are clear, but few can have full faith that the boss will leave no stone unturned this summer in order to achieve true supremacy.
We genuinely hope he leaves us as a Premier League champion.
