Calum Chambers has played down the Swansea result and believes it’s too early in the season to declare anything. Arsenal led by a goal but lost 2-1 to the Swans and the result left the Gunners 12 points adrift of league leaders Chelsea.
Arsene Wenger and the Arsenal players have come in for fierce criticism after yet another dismal defensive display. Arsenal for the second time in a week have lost a lead and were unable to respond to the setback. Arsenal took the lead through Alexis Sanchez and were in firm control of the game until we went full Arsenal and conceded two goals in quick succession.
Chambers, who was tormented all day by Swansea winger Montero, has called for overall improvement. The defender said the team has to stay mentally strong and move on to the next game.
Chambers told arsenal.com
It’s always a tough place to come. They’re a strong side and obviously we’ll have a chance to watch the game back later. We’ve just got to stay mentally strong as a team. We’ll watch it back to learn from it and try to improve our game. That’s the only thing we can do.We all know how each other plays and we know what we need to do each game. We’ve just got to stay mentally strong throughout the game. It’s still early on in the season. This is a hard place to come and get a result. I feel that we’ve got the strength to get there and it’s still early on in the season.
Yesterday was our second league defeat of the season and it looks like it’s going to be a long, tough season for us. As you all know, the title is long gone but fourth place is firmly within our grasp. Our defence is a make shift one due to the injuries and it’s up to the rest of the team to help the defence, which they seem to keep forgetting. Up front, Santi Cazorla based on current form doesn’t do enough to warrant a place in the side while Ramsey is doing his best to outperform Santi. And next up are United and Dortmund after the international break. Glorious.
