Calum Chambers says he is pleased to have scored his first senior goal in Arsenal’s 3-0 win over Burnley at the Emirates. Chambers smashed home from close range after Welbeck’s shot was saved by the goalkeeper and the defender was johnny on the spot to take advantage.
Arsenal put in a much improved performance and thoroughly deserved the win. Alexis Sanchez was inspirational and scored another brace taking his tally to 10 goals in all competitions this season.
Chambers believes that Arsenal are slowly regaining their form and are building momentum. Arsenal have won three consecutive games and look solid with every passing game.
It was tough, they sat back and defended well and we just had to keep working hard to create chances and eventually we took them and it was a good result in the end.
It was my first senior goal and a really proud moment for me. [The last one] was at youth level, but not at first-team level so I am really, really pleased.
We have had good results lately and we are picking up momentum. We are just training hard and have to take it into the next game.
Chambers also praised Sanchez’s quality and industry and hailed his contribution to the team.
Everyone knows he’s a quality player and he works so hard for the team. It does help us when you have people working hard and he creates chances – that shows what a quality player he is.
Alexis Sanchez was once again immense today, he has been excellent for the last month or so and while understandably and deservedly, the spotlight will always be on Sanchez, other players too deserve mention especially Oxlade-Chamberlain and Calum Chambers. The Ox was brilliant and Chambers was impressive both going forward and in defence.
Next up Anderlecht at home.
