We look closer than ever to signing a new goalkeeper this summer, with Chelsea giving the green light for Petr Cech to complete a move to the Emirates, according to The Telegraph.
The 33-year-old looks to be on his way out of Stamford Bridge this summer, with Thibaut Courtois usurping him as the Blues’ No.1. The Telegraph claim that while Jose Mourinho would prefer not to sell to a team in direct competition for the Premier League, the decision is not up to him.
The Czech international is a fantastic shot-stopper, and would certainly add something to our side. David Ospina and Wojciech Szczesny have shown glimpses of real quality during their time between the sticks, but Cech would arguably be an improvement on both men.
As the report suggests, we are the front runners for his signature. Cech is keen to remain in London, and we are therefore his most likely destination.
The Telegraph claims we are facing competition from Manchester United, who could need a replacement for David de Gea if he leaves for Real Madrid this summer. Hopefully the draw of keeping his family in London will be enough, as Cech could really play a big part in elevating us to title contenders next season.
