Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola has tipped us to mount a serious title challenge and emerge as the club with the most realistic chance of wrestling the Premier League off Jose Mourinho’s side, Sky Sports report.
Zola expects his former team to launch a serious defence of their title, but stated that we’re the team to watch out for given our form during the tail end of last season.
In 2015, we went on an amazing run in the Premier League which included eight wins in succession. Our impressive run helped us secure a top three place, and saw us automatically qualify for the Champions League.
Arsenal transfer news
“City will be stronger next season but I’m expecting Arsenal to be more competitive as well,” Zola told Sky Sports News HQ.
“I thought in the second part of the season Arsenal were outstanding. They impressed with the way they were defending, something that was not their best point.

“If they manage to keep the standard throughout the season, for a little bit longer than they did last year, they will be very, very competitive.”
Zola’s predictions make sense given how we ended the campaign last term, but so much can change over the course of the next two months.
Just like Chelsea did 18 months ago, two astute signings can transform a team from pretenders to potential winners in a matter of weeks.
Any prediction which proceeds the end of the transfer window is therefore rather premature, but with the potential arrival of Cech (via BBC Sport), we can certainly prove Zola right next season.
