Petr Cech’s move to Arsenal now only seems to be a matter of time, and there are more and more hints that the switch is closing in on completion. The Mirror claims Chelsea boss Roman Abramovich has cleared the Czech international to make the move across London, and is even planning on giving him a £4m gift.
The report claims that Abramovich is so grateful for Cech’s years of services – and the four Premier League titles, one Europe League, and one Champions League title he helped Chelsea win – that he is willing to give the 33-year-old a large chunk of the salary that he’d be paid from the remaining time on his contract.
Cech currently has a year left on his Chelsea deal, and the Mirror claims Abramovich is willing to gift the Blues shot-stopper part of it as a thank you.
The Chelsea veteran will move for as little as £8m (via the Mirror), and will presumably slot straight into the starting XI. He will surely prove a vast improvement on David Ospina and Wojciech Szczesny, and will hopefully help us make the step to the next level.
