Everyone knows we badly need a striker this summer, and Arsenal legend Ian Wright believes Jamie Vardy is the man we should be signing.

The ex-Arsenal star took to Twitter to once again voice his adoration for the pacy England international, apologising to Leicester City fans for wanting to pinch one of their star men.
Sorry Leicester but I want Vardy at Arsenal.

While a striker is unquestionably our top priority, there are question marks over Vardy’s suitability. On paper after the season he’s had you might say he’s ideal, but there are far too many variables with the Foxes’ star striker.
First of all, he’s 29. At the most he’s a temporary solution, and ideally we want to be signing someone who can do a job up front for us for years to come. Vardy’s main attribute is his pace, and as soon as that dries up he could struggle.

This has also been his only really successful season to date, which is rarely a good sign. It’s always possible that this is just the start of a golden period for Vardy, but it seems far more likely that this will go down as his best ever season, and however well he plays in the future he’ll never quite match it.
Arsenal transfer news
There are also question marks over his character of course, with the Premier League winner not only becoming known for diving, but also for his racist and thug-like behaviour (via The Sun). We definitely need a striker, but even if Arsene Wenger was interested, Vardy doesn’t look to be the player we need.
