Arsenal’s pursuit of a new midfielder continues to drag on, with just a matter of days left of this transfer window, and now confirmation that the Gunners face competition for their top target.
Mikel Arteta has seemingly put focus on signing Lyon’s Houssem Aouar before the deadline, but the club president has on Wednesday revealed ‘three big clubs’ are in for the Frenchman (one of which is Arsenal).
Reporter Fabrizio Romano carried the quotes via his social media that Arsenal are indeed in for the 22-year-old;
Jean Michel Aulas about Houssem Aouar deal: "We know that three big clubs are interested in him. 2 in the short-term, 1 in the long-term. Not much has happened. All the clubs can’t give us financially what Lyon wants". [@GFFN]
Arsenal still in talks. But no agreement yet. #AFC🚨

Arsenal now seemingly have to meet the financial requirements of Lyon and hope their two other (unnamed) rivals fail to up their own bids.
The transfer deadline in England is next Monday, October 5th 2020.
