We have recently completed the signing of Petr Cech from Chelsea (via the BBC), and he looks set to be one of our best signings in a long time. But how does the former Chelsea star compare to our current crop of shot-stoppers?
Below we’ve compared Wojciech Szczesny, David Ospina, and Petr Cech. Listing the most important attributes of a goalkeeper, and seeing who comes out on top.

- Arsenal ready a £25million bid for a ‘rising star’ of Dutch football
- Arsene Wener to return to dugout since leaving Arsenal in 2018
- Arsenal target ex-midfielder transfer after four years apart
There’s only one winner here, and there can be no question about it. The veteran ex-Chelsea shot-stopper has years of Premier League experience and has played at the highest level for around a decade. He has won almost everything there is to win, and will hopefully bring that winning mentality to Arsenal.
Szczesny has a remarkable amount of experience considering his age, but he is still in his infancy where goalkeepers are concerned. He has been in and around the first team fold at Arsenal for a long time, but he can’t hold a candle to Cech.
Ospina isn’t much older than Szczesny, but he has very little experience of playing at the highest level. Having spent most of his career with French side Nice, he hasn’t had the chance to compete for the highest honours.
