Arsenal-Aston Villa
Barclays Premier League
The Emirates
Kick off: February 1st, 2015 1330 GMT
Manager Arsene Wenger has chosen to rest a few first team players ahead of the important game against Tottenham next Saturday. The team should be looking to win every fixture they can with the race to the Champions League spots heating up, and a win against Aston Villa today would be a good way to start off an important month.
Today’s squad features David Ospina getting a rare start for the Gunners. In front of him, he will have a defensive line of Bellerin, Mertesacker, Koscielny and Monreal. In midfield, the impressive Coquelin is handed a start alongside Ramsey, with Walcott, Cazorla and Ozil in the attacking positions. Olivier Giroud gets the nod as lone striker.
No look in for new signing Gabriel, who starts on the bench, alongside Gibbs and Chambers. Flamini and Rosicky are also present and so is Szczesny, who is yet to regain the manager’s faith after his Southampton debacle. Alexis Sanchez is not present in the matchday squad, something we would not have dreamed of a couple of months ago. But even without him, the team looks strong enough to get the three points today.
