Danny Welbeck is closing in on a return to the first team with the forward back in full training ahead of the visit of Aston Villa on Sunday, Arsene Wenger told reporters.
The England man hasn’t played since we won at Upton Park on Boxing Day after suffering a thigh strain, but his welcome return is drawing near.
Olivier Giroud has led the line wonderfully in recent weeks, giving an excellent display in centre forward hold-up play against Man City at the Etihad Stadium.

However, we’ve missed Welbeck’s electric pace and we are yet to witness the lightning forward trio of the former Manchester United man, Alexis Sanchez and Walcott.

Wenger may feel we have enough to beat Aston Villa on Sunday, in which case him and Sanchez will have another week off before the big one – next Saturday’s North London Derby.
