The transfer of Newcastle United right back Mathieu Debuchy is set to be finalized very soon after reports from the Daily Star state a medical has been completed ahead of the proposed £12million move.
The France international comes in as a immediate replacement for Bacary Sagna who has departed to Manchester City on a free transfer after spending seven years at the club.
Debuchy, who has been his countries first choice right back during the World Cup, will add plenty of Premier League experience after spending 18 months in Newcastle. His attacking threat will certainly be something to look forward to, while he still has plenty of room to grow as player under compatriot Arsene Wenger.
Much talk has been made over the future of Carl Jenkinson and Hector Bellerin. The former is far more well known to Gooners, a fan since birth showed his passion when he scored his first outright goal last season against Norwich.
Apparently Newcastle may be handed Jenko for the season on a loan deal, which could be a hugely beneficial experience for the youngster especially as he will have a solid chance to play regular Premier League football. This will allow reserve regular Bellerin to play backup to the soon to be 29-year-old Debuchy.
Although hypothetically a loan deal would be good for Jenkinson, leaving the inexperienced and young Bellerin as our only backup will be a worry especially due to Arsenal’s shocking injury record. The young Spaniard should perhaps be the one to head out on loan.

Anyway, thankfully Wenger has acted quickly in securing a replacement for Sagna with a big summer of signing still to come. He may not be the worlds worst exciting signing, but the France international is a player who can fill the void of the consistent Sagna and adds the necessary qualities to our defence.
If we can secure Alexis Sanchez and announce Debuchy in the next week or so it will help take some strain off what will be a very long transfer window.
