Abou Diaby has spent most of his Arsenal career sidelined with injury and, with his current contract coming to an end, Arsene Wenger is considering offering the Frenchman a pay-as-you-play deal, according to The Telegraph.
The 28-year-old has recently returned from his latest injury, and has been impressing for the Under-21s.
Wenger is known to be a huge fan of Diaby’s, and has given him every chance to prove he can make it at the club. The Telegraph report that he is pleased with the progress his compatriot has made recently, and is willing to consider offering him an extension.
The boss is prepared to let Diaby continue training and rehabilitating at the Emirates, despite the fact that his contract will end this summer. He may be offered a pay-as-you-play contract, and with the midfielder performing well recently, he may also be offered a new deal at some point in the future.
He was always done well when fit, and looked to be a player capable of great things. No matter the quality he shows however, you cannot rely on someone who can barely string a handful of performances together without injury.
