Wenger has described Ramsey, Wilshere and Abou Diaby as box to box midfielders who are adept in both attack and defence. It is interesting that all three of them have spent long spells on the sidelines and have never really gotten a chance to play together. However if we took a hypothetical situation with the hope that it becomes a reality and all three players are available, who would you start with?
Abou Diaby, with his languid style has the ability to dribble past players, give good through balls and add a physical presence to our midfield that is usually accused of been lightweight. He has extremely good technique and a surprisingly deft touch for such a big guy. Having a player with a similar build to Viera in the side with the same attributes would be a big boost to Arsenal.
Ramsey is a player who gives his all on the pitch. He is known for making runs in to the box unnoticed and for his goal scoring ability. His ability to spot a pass has improved greatly and as usual, is a team player. Based on this season alone, most fans might want him in their starting line up. It is amazing how poorly he was playing when he returned from his injury and how good he is now. Just goes to show that patience pays
There is no doubting that Jack Wilshere wears his heart on his sleeve when on the field. His ability to ghost past the opposition is next to none and his link up play with his teammates is a joy to watch. His best game was probably against Barcelona in the Champions League. His only problem is his lack of goals but he can improve on that in due time. He can tackle as well. Steven Gerrard said it is scary that the best is yet to come.
I repeat the question. If all these players who play in similar positions were fit, who would you prefer in your starting line up? Abou Diaby looks fit and relaxed so I have no doubt next season we shall be having this discussion again. Arsenal will be unstoppable next season if we can keep all three of them fit.
