Arsenal loanee Johan Djourou has revealed he wishes to make his stay permanently at Hannover after moving to the club in the January transfer window.
The Swiss international made the move to the Bundesliga club in the pursuit of first team football, a move encouraged by Swiss national coach Ottmar Hitzfeld.
It is well known that Djourou was dropped from the Swiss national team by Hitzfeld simply due to his lack of playing time, but at Hannover he has already had ten league starts.
Djourou is quoted as saying by ESPN Soccernet:
It would be fantastic if the clubs could agree on a deal. I have been granted the chance to play here and I am getting better and better and slowly finding my old form.
It is a difficult situation since I still have two years left on my contract in London.
Some felt that Djourou’s departure in January may come back to haunt Arsenal owing to our injury record at the back end of the season, but so far that has not eventuated.
The Swiss international was never a stand-out at Arsenal, but personally speaking you would certainly be hard pressed to find a better fourth choice center-back at any another club.

In essence though, that essentially created Djourou’s dilemma and it is good to hear he is finally able to play a bigger part at another club, but whether he will be staying at Hannover remains to be seen. Arsenal are reportedly willing to let the Swiss defender go for €4m.
