Tomas Rosicky is the most accomplished, complete player that Arsenal currently have on their books. Blessed with an unbelievable turn of pace, ability to spot a run in the blink of an eye and feed perfect through balls with a keen eye for goal. Although he rarely makes incursions into the box preferring to control proceedings from further back.
This season Arsene Wenger has used Tomas Rosicky so sparingly that he considered leaving although, being the gentleman that he is, never let his true feelings be made public. All Rosicky has done every time he has been given a chance to play is to make sure he enjoys the time he has on the pitch and this has shown in his displays.
Rosicky has been playing with the handbrake off, smiling as he executes superb through balls and scoring some really nice goals along the way. Who can forget his winning goal against Brighton Hove and Albion in the FA cup in January that highlighted his movement, exceptional passing and superb finishing? Wenger said it perfectly when he said anyone who loves football, loves Rosicky and that is true as the Czech is loved by foes and fans alike.
It would be really fool hardy not to renew Rosicky’s contract for the simple reason which is his heir Aaron Ramsey is too inconsistent and still learning his trade to take over on a permanent basis. Ramsey is talented and as he showed against Monaco he will soon be able to run the midfield for Arsenal, but it is quite telling that when Newcastle were putting Arsenal under pressure at St. James’ Park in a bid to grab an unlikely point, Wenger turned to Rosicky, a player he has a lot of faith in, to steady the ship which the experienced midfield did to perfection.
Arsenal need Rosicky for his experience, ability on the ball and most important, ability to turn a draw into a win. We simply cannot do without him and should do all we can to retain his services.
