Arsenal have announced the signing of Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech on a long-term deal after the 33-year-old passed a medical to signify a massive statement of intent on our behalf.

Talk of a move was heavily reported last week which makes this deal an expected one, but the magnitude of his arrival mustn’t be underestimated.
Jose Mourinho’s public reluctance of this deal taking place further illustrates how much he rates Cech and the Portuguese coach knows he has strengthened us significantly in an area we’ve been struggling in for a decade (via the Mirror).

Cech has spoken of his move and is delighted to be joining us as we look to mount a serious title challenge, which could culminate in his 5th Premier League trophy.

“I’m really excited about joining Arsenal Football Club and can’t wait to join up for pre-season,” he told Arsenal.com
“When Arsène Wenger spoke to me about his ambitions for this club, and how he saw me as part of this team, the decision was clear.”
Not since the days of Jens Lehmann have we had such a commanding presence in between our sticks and in all fairness to the German, Cech is a level above.
With an already established back four in front of him, our defensive outlook is looking promising given how important that department is in any title-winning side.
Welcome to the biggest club in London, Cech!
