Celtic defender Virgil van Dijk has labelled Arsenal as an ‘amazing’ club and is interested in a move to north London in the future.
The Gunners are in an injury crisis at the back to say the least with Kieran Gibbs the latest casualty to join crocked stars Laurent Koscielny and Mathieu Debuchy on the treatment table.
Van Dijk has been linked with a switch to Arsenal in the new year, with suggestions of an £8million offer set to be launched soon.
The 23-year-old has admitted he’d be interested in the step up and certainly hasn’t ruled out a move away from Scotland in the near future.
He told Sky Sports:
Arsenal are an amazing club.

It’s a big club with a great history. I’m happy here just now and I want to play well and we’ll see what happens in the future.
Until there are bids I can’t say thing. There is no rush to leave but you never know in the future.
The Celtic centre half has shone since joining in the summer of 2013. Last campaign he was part of the back line that went an astonishing 1,215 minutes without conceding a goal, breaking a 43-year-old record. He also won the Celtic Players’ Player of The Year award in his debut campaign, contributing 5 goals in his 35 league appearances.
Should we Buy?
It is thought Celtic are open to a sale of their star defender but will be hoping to fetch somewhere in the region of £15million for the former Dutch U21 international.
Arsenal are in desperate need for a centre half this January and the transition would be relatively smooth for the Dutchman as he’s been in Britain for over a year and is on the radar for the Holland national team. Although he’s yet to earn his first cap, Van Dijk was called up for recent friendlies.
Certainly the Premier League is a step up from Scottish football but if Arsenal’s scouts are convinced of his abilities he will be a solid acquisition. Someone who can develop at the club but be good enough to step in when needed.
