Reports in Spain indicate that Lyon forward Alexandre Lacazette is on the verge of signing for Arsenal in the summer. The long-term Gunners target has been linked heavily with a move to the Emirates in the past but it seems that the Gunners now face opposition from Atletico Madrid (via Sport Witness).
We may still be in March but that doesn’t mean that summer transfer rumours are out of the question. This one is a rumour which has been covered so often with such little real movement that it’s almost at the levels of Yoann Gourcuff.
New reports in Spain claim that Arsenal are the frontrunners to sign Lyon forward Alexandre Lacazette in the summer ahead of a number of other clubs.
Liverpool have been linked with the player in recent weeks but Marca claim that Atletico Madrid are also interested in the 25-year-old.
The Spanish publication claims that the player has given a ‘firm commitment’ to sign for Arsene Wenger and that he is ‘on the verge’ of moving to the Gunners.
Lacazette has been a consistent goalscorer in recent seasons. His 27 Ligue 1 goals in 2014-15 was followed up by 21 the next season. However, this term has been his most lethal. The Lyon frontman 22 in 24 domestic matches as well as another 4 in his 7 European games. A sizeable return.

It seems that this rumour is going to run and run until Alexandre Lacazette moves clubs, be it to Arsenal or another. The Frenchman is undoubtedly a very good goalscorer and would certainly improve the Gunners squad. The quoted price of €35 million is also drastically lower than the €60 figure which was being discussed last term. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens with this one.
